Roth Melvin (Mel) Roth, age 83, of St. Paul. Born January 13, 1920, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 22, 2003. Preceded in death by mother and father, Sophie and Mayer Rothstein; brothers, Joseph and Jay Rothstein; sister, Nettie Viner. Survived by wife, Ruth; brother, Seymour (Marge) Rothstein; son, Ron (Margaret) Roth; daughters, Caryl (Larry) Abdo, Sheila (Gerry) O'Brien, Wendy (Curt) Schlenner, Carrie (Tim) Frantzich. Also survived by grandchildren, Mike (Beth) Roth, Lainie (Karl) DeBoer, Mandy (Bill) Sheahan, Paul, John and Corey Abdo, Philip (Anne) O'Brien, David and Michael O'Brien, Andrea and Robert Schlenner, Zebulon, Jonah and Esther Frantzich; great-grandchildren, Drake, Olivia and Natalie Roth, Grace and Emma DeBoer; many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Devoted and husband husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A servant of his Lord, friend and good Samaritan to all who asked him for assistance. Faithful and constant provider for his family and community; active member of Arlington Hills Lutheran Church. He will be greatly missed for his wonderful sense of humor and loving ways he shared with family, friends and employees. Prominent Minnesota businessman. Founder of King Pin Foods and Shopper's City Stores. Retired President of Red Owl and Snyder Drug Stores. Since retirement he spent winters in Bradenton, Florida with Ruth where he will be missed by many friends. The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Lyngblomstem Care Center and The Pillars Hospice facility for their caring hearts and support. Visitation Thursday, March 27, 4-8 PM, WULFF FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1485 White Bear Ave., St. Paul. Also one hour prior to service at church. Service Friday, March 28 at 1 PM at ARLINGTON HILLS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1115 Greenbrier St. at Geranium, St. Paul. Private interment.
