Yutaka Takekawa
Takekawa Yutaka "Dutch" died on 3/20/03. Vancouver, WA resident since 1987. Born Seattle 12/10/21, oldest of three sons to Yasuhei George and Kaneji Takekawa. Played on local Nisei baseball and basketball teams. Broadway HS class of 1939. Denied personal freedom and protection of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights under Executive Order 9066, 2/19/42. Incarcerated behind barbed wire without due process at Minidoka concentration camp, Hunt, ID, family No. 17390. WWII US Army veteran, Pacific Theatre. 27-year resident of Minneapolis. 1952 Univ of MN grad, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. Eternally grateful to G.I. Bill for a home, college, opportunity to raise a wonderful family. Survived by loving wife of 53 years, Rae (Matsuoka); daughters, Anne Celia, Beth Ellen (Tony To), Jean Emi; son, John Yutaka (Jennifer Greenier); grandchildren, James Lawrence To and Ellen Lea Takekawa; brothers, John Akira (Phyllis Matsushita) and Thomas Tsuyoshi (Kiyomi Komuta). Private funeral arrangements. Burial at Ft. Snelling Nat'l Cemetery, MN. Memorials to donor's choice.
