Russell Wilfred Lent
Lent Russell Wilfred, age 67, of Cokato and formerly of Montrose died March 20th at his residence after a courageous battle with A.L.S.-Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was born on January 9, 1936 in St Paul, MN, the son of Vernon H. Lent & Stella F. (Peterson) Lent. On October 5, 1957, Russell Lent and Roberta Klym were joined in holy matrimony at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mpls, MN. Then on November 12, 1958, Russell was drafted into the military. He served until November 2, 1960. God blessed their marriage with three children. Russell's first job was at the age of 16 at Miller's Restaurant, then he worked at Mpls Rag Stock. In the early `50s he went into business with his father-in-law until 1967 when he went to work for the St Louis Park School District. In December of 1971, they moved to Montrose and started dairy farming. Russell farmed and worked for the School District up until August 31, 1993, when he retired from the School District. After retirement, he enjoyed farming, fishing, traveling and his grandchildren. Survived by his loving wife, Roberta of Cokato; children, Steven of Cold Spring, David (Roseann) of Waverly and Annmarie (Peter) Jordan of Sauk Centre; 11 grandchildren, Katie, Rebecca, Derek and Darren Lent of Rice, Kevin and Keith Lent of Waverly, Joshua, Andres, Jeremiah, Mark and Elizabeth Jordan of Sauk Centre; sisters-in-law, Marlene Krob of Princeton and Marian Lent of Elk River; nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and 2 brothers, Dillor and Eugene Lent. Funeral services will be held TODAY at 11:30 AM at St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose. Friends may call TODAY AT THE CHURCH from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers are George Belmore, Mike Belmore, Michael Hill, Danny Lent, Jim Lent and Stanley Peterson. Private interment Union Cemetery in Atwater, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the A.L.S. Assoc, MN Chapter, 333 North Washington Ave, Suite 105, Mpls MN, 55401.
