LaMotte Robert, born December 16, 1922. Passed away March 10 with family close by. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil & Laura; brother, Henry; daughter, Laura. He will be deeply missed by wife of 50 years, Joan (Dufresne Ostendorf); children, Susan (Dick), Alan (Betty Lou), Mary Jo (Ron), David (Nancy), Karen (Robert), and Francis (Allison); 17 grandchildren, Andrew (Kristin), Christopher (Lynn), Patricia, Brianne, Abigail, Cassandra, Jennifer, Samantha, Andrea, Kathleen, Alexa, Brett, James, Joshua, Todd, Brent, and Raena; 3 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Gabrielle, and Callista; 2 sisters, Shirley (Arnold) and Lois (Frank). Robert was the great-grandson of one of the founders of Centerville, MN and recently received a lifetime achievement award for his service to that city. Bob received a second chance at life December 1, 1987 when he became the 143rd heart transplant performed at the University of Minnesota. He and Joan took great pleasure sharing his story from the State Fair to elementary schools. Through this gift, Bob witnessed the weddings of 3 children, the birth of 7 of his grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Friday, March 14 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church, Lindstrom. Memorial visitation Thursday 4-8 PM at Grandstrand Funeral Home, Lindstrom, 651-257-4000. Private family burial at St. Genevieve Cemetery, Centerville. Memorials to the 2nd Chance for Life Foundation, 516 Delaware St. SE, Phillips-Wangensteen Bldg, Office 2-135, Mpls MN 55455, and Parents of Murdered Children, PO Box 516, Circle Pines MN 55104.
