Laura Van Norman Turano
Turano Laura Van Norman, 92, born April 27, 1909, Mpls., MN, died Feb. 12, 2002, Shelburne, VT. Daughter of Harry L. & Helen (Dooley) Van Norman. Graduate of Carleton College, 1930. She worked in journalism and advertising during the Depression, including for the Minneapolis Tribune (now Star Tribune) then came East where she worked as a copywriter in New York and for Bamberger's, in Newark, NJ. She lived in Cedar Grove, NJ, from 1942-1994 when she moved to Vermont. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Turano and leaves 3 daughters, Patricia Rockmore of NY, Emily Ward of Reston, VA & Jane Thompson of Middlebury, VT. Funeral Feb. 23 at Congregational Church, Cornwall, VT. Interment at later date in Lakewood Cemetery, Mpls. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Ilsley Public Library, 75 Main St., Middlebury, VT 05753, for their Christmas Book Fund for Children.
