Nelson Stanley J., age 88, of Minneapolis, on Feb. 11. Preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Mary; parents, Ewald and Alice; and brother, Bruce. Survived by his loving wife, Penny; children, S. James Jr. (Franca), Mary Lynn (Mike) Murphy, Tom (Bette), Michael (Trisha) and Stephanie; grandchildren, Christian, Erik, Scott, Nicholas, Cooper and Shafer Nelson, Gretchen (Marco) Lainez, Ryan and Mary O'Connell Murphy; great-granddaughter, Isabella Lainez; and many other friends and relatives. A lifelong resident of Minneapolis and Edina; Stan was employed by Honeywell for 42 years. He was Executive Vice President and Group Executive of the Residential, Commercial, and Microswitch divisions when he retired. In his retirement Stan went on to find great satisfaction in volunteerism. He was a Board Member or Trustee of numerous business and community organizations including: Dunwoody Institute, The Dean's Advisory Board at Purdue University, National Electrical Manufacturer's Association, American Cancer Society, Senior Resources, Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library, Minnesota State Board on Aging, and the Harvard Business School Club of Minnesota. Club affiliations included the Fox and Hounds Breakfast club, Gibraltar Luncheon Club, Rotary Club, and Interlachen Country Club. Mass of Christian Burial Fri., Feb. 14, 11 AM at OUR LADY OF GRACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5071 Eden Ave., Edina with visitation one hour prior. Private interment.
