Schirber Rose Marie "Jo", age 78, of Grand Rapids, MN, died on January 31, 2003. Mrs. Schirber was born December 19, 1924, in Easton, MO to Frederick Brown and Eva Halsted. She married Dr. Martin Schirber on June 6, 1946. Jo Schirber graduated from Atlantic High School in 1942 and from St. Joseph's School of Nursing as a RN in 1946. Jo Schirber is survived by 7 sons, Marty (Carol), Steven (Tamara), John (Kate), Benet (Kari), Christopher (Tammy Meister), Michael (Alesia), and Joel (Wendi) Schirber; 8 daughters, Susan, Sally (Bill) Haffner, Debra (Jerry) Shatoff, Julia (Mike) Henry, Becky, Jeanne (Jay) Hoecker, OiMei (Larry) Bliss, and Nan Shoaff; 31 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 4 sisters; 1 brother; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 daughter (Mary Nell), and 2 granddaughters (Ariella and Elisabeth). Jo Schirber was first and always a mother, but also an artist, a DFL activist, a delegate to the national convention, a world traveler, a runner-up in the Mrs. Minnesota contest, a pro-lifer, and had the most infectious laugh. Memorials to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids or any pro-life organization. A Rosary and Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 5, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, MN at 11 AM. Arr. O'Halloran & Murphy, 651-698-0796.
