¼ Haugland Vernon "Ike"Haugland, of Starbuck, formerly of Browns Valley, died January 20th at age 85. He was born in Milan, MN, to Oliver and Selma (Dove) Haugland on October 10, 1917. He attended schools in Milan, Wheaton, Univ. of MN, and received his degree from NDAC in Fargo, ND. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Donna (Hanson), and five children, Steve (Linda) Haugland of Park Rapids, Jan Haugland (Bill Horne) of St. Paul, Kristi (David) Miller of Hancock, Jody (Tom) Miller of Woodbury & Jason (Cathy) Haugland of Minneapolis; sister, Lorraine Larson of LaJolla, CA; brothers, John (Ruth) Haugland of Park Rapids & Paul Haugland of Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law, Bernice Hanson of Canby; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his son, Todd Anthony Haugland; and his granddaughter, Katie Rey Haugland. He belong to the Wheaton Jaycees, Lions Club, and Town and Country Club. He was also a church trustee, boy scout leader and captain of the Civil Air Patrol. His favorite hobbies were hunting, snowmobiling and flying his airplane. For 41 years he was the proprietor of Ike's Chicken Shack, a well-known restaurant on Lake Traverse in Browns Valley. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on January 24, 2003 at the Starbuck Funeral Home, with Reverend Julius Miller of Hancock officiating. Starbuck Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
