Estelle 'Bee' Melby

Melby, Estelle "Bee" Bee Melby of Deephaven passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2017 at the age of 93 years. Born in Minneapolis on August 2, 1924 to Arthur and Josephine Lunden Joki. Bee was preceded in death by Harold, her husband of 70 years and her sister Esther Whitcher. She is survived by children Karen (Fred) Schmeisser of Orono, Stuart (Carolyn) of Waconia, Mary (Phil) Hanson of Waconia, Mark of Spring Park and Brian (Liz) of Eden Prairie; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also her sister Elvi Pilon of Burnsville; many nieces, nephews and friends. Bee was a homemaker and pre-school teacher. Although she was 100% Finnish she gave 110% promoting and preserving all things Norwegian. Bee was loved by all and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, Bee requested that memorials may be made to: Finnish Sallia Lampi language camp at Concordia College, Mindekirken Norwegian Church or Grace Lutheran Church.
