Backus, Dr. Reno E. age 88, of Edina, passed away peacefully on Nov. 24, 2017. Born in Peking, China to missionary parents, Reno W. and Gladys. Preceded in death by wife, Elizabeth (Malec); parents; and sister, Joan Thaxton. Survived by children, Bruce (Liz), Holly Eicher, Mike (Lisa), Roy (Roberta), Scott (Mary Sue) and Jill Weissner; 13 grandchildren William, John, Carolyn Backus, Christine (Troy) Carpenter, Brian Eicher, Sara Martin, Katie, Matthew, Laura (Tom) Steichen, Amy, Anna, Amelia Backus and Bennett Weissner; brothers, Byron (Margie) and Lloyd (Jan); and many nieces and nephews. Reno was a pediatric neurologist at the Mpls Clinic of Psychiatry and Neurology before retiring to enjoy spending time with family, traveling, hobbies and volunteering. Special thank you to Wealshire of Bloomington, Park Nicollet Hospice and Deacon Jon DeLuney. Memorials preferred to the MN Alzheimer's Association or the Edina Lions. Mass of Christian Burial Mon., Dec. 4, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 5071 Eden Ave S., Edina.
