O'Donnell, Marylou McGrorty, RN age 81, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She went to the University of Minnesota to earn her nursing degree, and earned her Mrs. Degree instead. She fell in love with the musician & chemist, a grad student. Mary and Ray started their family in Minnesota, added three more kids and survived student housing with their growing family in Spartan Village at Michigan State while Ray earned his PhD. They moved to Oswego where she lived the rest of her life. She had great love for her family: husband Ray, children, Raymond T. Jr. (Linda); Brigid Figliuolo Chetney (James); Judith Erin O'Donnell; Shawn Marcus O'Donnell; Maureen Phyllis Sanchez of Doylestown, PA (Gene); grandchildren, Jonathan, Peter, and Sara Figliuolo, Tracey Erin Wallace (Ryan), Andrew O'Donnell, Eugene Francis Sanchez IV (Dru), Ernest Forsyth Sanchez, Evelyn Grace Sanchez; step grand children Melissa (Eric) Syrell and Matthew (Casey) Wood, great-grandchildren William and Ezra Wallace and step great-grandchildren Jack, Connor, Gracie and Sophia Syrell. Mary also loved her sister Dorothy Hebner(Bill), sisters-in-law Terry McGrorty(Mark), Carolyn Maher (Bill) and brothers Michael (Nance) and Billy (Kathy), brother-in-law Bernie O'Donnell (Mary) along with many nieces and nephews in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Montana, Washington, Maryland, Florida, and Idaho. She especially loved the time spent in their retirement in Arizona with dear friends and family. She was preceded in joining God by her beloved parents, brother Mark and her infant brother. She loved children, life, nature, art, gardening, camping, cooking, music, genealogy, working with people and especially her nursing career as an RN. Above all, she had a deep faith that her work on this earth was all practice for the next life. She volunteered for Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, the American Red Cross Disaster Team and The Arthritis Foundation. Mary was an Aquatic Exercise Instructor for 10 years in Arizona, she was a member of the Oswego Festival Chorus 30 years, she was a Eucharistic Minister in both NY & AZ, Triage RN at Mission of Mercy and Minister of Care in Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, November 3rd 2017 at the Hall Newman Center, 36 New Street Oswego, NY 13126. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hall Newman Center.
