Kelly, Marilyn Faye of Monticello, was born June 25th, 1932 to Sven and Agnes Erickson. She came home to older sister Joyce and they would grow up on the family farm in Silver Creek Township. The family were members at Faith Lutheran Church and that is where Marilyn was baptized, attended Sunday school and was confirmed. Helping her father at home on the farm was part of everyday life. She was active in 4-H and favorite project was Fluffy her sheep. She graduated from Monticello High School. Marilyn married Wayne Kelly May 5th, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They moved into the house on the Kelly farm. Marilyn would live there for 61 years. Raising three children, helping with everything on the farm while also working full time. Her children kept her busy with 4-H and later joining Wright Saddle Club. Lots of time was spent at 4-H meetings, county fairs, saddle club practices, parades, horse shows and the state fair. Not just watching them compete, but many times driving the horse trailer. In 1974 when Ben Franklin opened in Monticello she became a Ben Franklin lady. She loved it. She loved the customers, all the craft projects she got to make for display and that is when her addiction started. To collecting of Beanie Babies, Precious Moments, Dept 56 and snowmen. She would retire when Ben Franklin closed, only to find a part time job at Hallmark. And that only added to her collections. Marilyn is survived by her children Brenda, Mike (Robyn Gehrke) and Kathy. Her sister Joyce DeVries, sister in law Jean Thune, 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne and his twin sister Wanda Nelson, brother in laws Ged DeVries, Don Thune, James Longworth and Harold Nelson. Services for Marilyn are on Saturday October 21st at Trinity Lutheran Church 449 W. Broadway in Monticello, MN. Visitation is at 10:00 with the service starting at 11:00. Internment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Monticello, followed by a luncheon at the church. Arr. Peterson-Grimsmo 763-295-2918 peterson-Grimsmo.com
