David Godfrey

Godfrey, David 48, of St. Paul MN, died October 11 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice from complications of alcoholism. Preceded in death by his father Dennis Godfrey. Survived by wife Dana Wagner and sons August and Thomas Godfrey; mother, Susan Newman and step-father John Wagner; sister Barbara Godfrey; uncle Charles Teeter and aunt Bonnie Godfrey; step-siblings Kate and Mike Wagner and step-mother Sandra Godfrey. A graduate of Mounds Park Academy and Lawrence University. David did graduate work at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. David served in government and healthcare, was a gift to the underserved, and to the healthcare safety net, yet our healthcare system could not save him. Funeral services will be at 3 PM on Saturday, October 21 at St. Clements Episcopal Church, St. Paul. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for written memories that will be collected at the service and preserved for August and Thomas.
