Hansen, Muriel Irene 97, passed away peacefully at St. Gertrude's Health and Rehabilitation Center, Shakopee, MN on August 29, 2017. Muriel was born in Luck, WI in 1920, one of nine children. She attended St. Croix Normal School and became a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. She met and married Curtis Hansen in 1945 and in 1950 they moved to Brainerd, MN, where she began raising their 2 daughters. They moved to Minneapolis in 1963 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was preceded in death by parents, Ole & Ingeborg Fjerstad, husband, Curtis E. Hansen, and 7 brothers and sisters. She will be missed by her only surviving brother Dale Fjerstad, Stockton, CA; daughters, Mary Farrell, Vienna, Austria and Jeanne Rosauer, Girdwood, Alaska; grandsons, Jason Splitt (Jan) of Shakopee, and Jake Rosauer of Girdwood, Alaska; one great-grand-daughter, Kinley Splitt, and loving nieces, nephews and other relatives. Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave South, Minneapolis, MN. There will be a visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon. Interment will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to your local Salvation Army or the Bethlehem Music Series. We wish to express our appreciation to the staff at St. Gertrude's for making Muriel's last 8 months safe, comfortable and happy. She will be remembered for her abiding faith, kindness and generosity, her dedication to her husband and children and her love of family and friends.
