Goodnough Dr. Lyle K. Goodnough, age 77, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Wheaton, MN and Burnsville, MN, died January 9, 2002, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Genevieve; son, Vince (Bonnie), Maple Grove, MN; and daughters, Julie Holman (Jeff), Roseville, MN, and Janet Baumgartner (Darren), Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Lance (Dawn), Elk River, MN, Scott, Longmont, CO, Kari Hammarsten, Madison, WI, Brian Hammarsten, Burnsville, MN; and great-grandchild, Alexander, Elk River, MN. Also survived by one brother and three sisters. Born April 4, 1924, in Bowman, ND, to Jay B. and Clara H. (Gunderson) Goodnough, Lyle moved to Bagley, MN in 1937, graduating from Bagley High School in 1942. A WWII veteran, he entered military service as a Naval Air Cadet in 1943 and was stationed at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, NY. He was a member of the Caterpillar Club. After attending Bemidji (MN) State Teachers College, he graduated from Southern College of Optometry. A life member of the American Optometry Association, he practiced Optometry in Wheaton from 1952-1987, and in Park Rapids, MN, from 1968-1971. He loved flying, playing guitar, golfing and was an excellent photographer. For many years he suffered from Parkinson's and had been a resident of Apple Valley Health Care Center, Apple Valley, MN before moving to Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, in 1997. Lyle was a kind and loving person & will be missed by all who loved him. Funeral Friday, January 11, 2002, 9:30 AM, Eventide Lutheran Home Chapel, Moorhead, MN. Visitation one hour before the service in the Eventide Chapel. Burial Friday, January 11, 2002, 2:00 PM, Bagley Cemetery, Bagley, MN. Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
