Frederick LeRoy Moritz Jr., lifelong resident of Wayzata. Born Feb. 26, 1927, died peacefully with his family at his side on Jan. 8, 2002 at age 74. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Gert; son, Mike Moritz & friend Debbie; daughters, Cheryl & husband Jack McClure, Cindy & husband Tim Mans; grandchildren, Trista, Leigh, Kim, Michael, Lindsay, Mary Ann, Missy & Donnie; sister, Kay Wood & husband Jim & their families. He retired from MN DOT after 39 years, a Wayzata Police Reserve Officer for the last 5 years, and also was a Wayzata Volunteer Fireman for over 20 years. Fred enjoyed fishing, going up North to their cabin, gardening and working in his yard. For many years Fred coached Wayzata youth football and basketball teams. Visitation 4-8 PM Thursday, with prayer service 7:30 PM at David Lee Funeral Home in Wayzata. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday, with visitation one hour prior at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Wayzata. Interment St. George Cemetery in Long Lake, followed by a reception at Church. In lieu of flowers, a donations may be sent to Fairview Southdale Hospice, Attn: Steve Sims. Thank you so much to all the nurses who helped us. God bless you.
