Middleton, Edith Passed away peacefully on February 1, 2017 at the age of 101. Edith was born in Germany on October 12, 1915 to Herbert and Sophie Wilhelm. In 1928, she traveled to America with her parents and two younger sisters and settled in Minneapolis. After briefly attending the University of Minnesota, she began working at Northwestern National Bank where she met and married David Lyman White in 1937. Son, Bruce, was born in 1939 but Lyman died of cancer in 1944. In 1949, Edith married William Middleton, a widower with four children whom Edith raised and loved as her own. Edith worked at the bank until she retired from her position of Trust Operations Officer in 1980. Her intelligence and drive allowed her to rise through the ranks and become the first female executive at Northwestern National Bank (now Wells Fargo). She was preceded in death by husband, Bill; sisters, Ilse Standahl and Jutta Stabno; children, Mary Jendro, James, Robert and Gerald; grandchildren Jeff Jendro and Anne Middleton-Koss; great-grandson, Parker Koss and daughter-in-law, Deidre. Edith is survived by son Bruce Middleton; daughters-in-law Acey Hofflander and Diane Middleton; grandchildren, Alison (Mark) Leikam, Scott (Barb) Middleton, Shari (Rick) Lyrek, Jill Middleton, Sally (Kevin) Trojack, Ross (Deanne) Middleton, Bill Middleton, Maureen (Mark) Gullickson, Kim Boyd, Laurie (John) Willkom, John Jendro, Jeri (Mark) Van Heel and Stacey (John) Nelson; 33 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and many loving relatives from Germany. A long-time resident of Robbinsdale, she was most recently being cared for by Sunrise of Golden Valley and Brighton Hospice. Funeral service Saturday, February 4th, 11:00 am at Robbinsdale United Church of Christ. Visitation 1 hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations requested to RUCC.
