Abplanalp, John Parker of Wayzata, Minnesota, died at the age of 87 on January 25th after a brief illness. John, known by his family and friends as Jack, was born in Oak Park, Illinois on July 8, 1930 to Ann Parker Abplanalp and Curt Carl Abplanalp. He graduated from Fenwick High School, in Oak Park, served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, and received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the University of Minnesota. Jack was a lifelong lover of ice hockey, camping, and the outdoors, and he satisfied his wanderlust with many extended trips across the world. His passion for adventure and learning kept him young. Jack is survived by his three children, Kathleen, Patricia, and Anne, and ten grandchildren. The family is memorializing Jack at a private service at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis, where he will be interred.
