James J. Wanecke
Wanecke James J., 85, of Oxnard, CA, died Tues., Jan. 1, 2002 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was a 10-year county resident coming from Sun City, AZ in 1992. James was born Oct. 2, 1916 in Mpls to John & Teckla Wanecke. James was a WWII Navy veteran serving as a Gunners Mate on the USS Core in the Atlantic Theater. James was very proud of the time he spent in the Navy and went to many reunions to revisit old shipmates. He was employed by Houbigant and was in the cosmetic industry for 30 years as a sales representative. James enjoyed working for Houbigant and everyone he encountered. He loved eating at Pete's Breakfast House in Ventura, and is known for his close relationship with the Breakfast House family. James will be missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Leslie ``Shelly'' Wanecke of Oxnard; brother & sister-in-law, Stephen & Ann Wanecke of IN; sister & brother-in-law, Angeline & Leo Engler of Edina, MN; and numerous nieces & nephews. Private interment will be held at Arizona Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Arr. Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
