Dolphin, Vernon M. age 87, of Alameda, CA died on Oct. 12, 2016 in his home. He was born on June 16, 1929 in Mpls., MN to Byron Earl and Edna J. (Peterson) Dolphin. He was preceded in death by his brother Byron Earl Dolphin, Jr.; first wife Harriet Sylvia (Kotzian) Dolphin; second wife Ruth (Cohen Silverman) Dolphin; and beloved son Victor Elliot Dolphin. He is succeeded by four children: daughters Jacqueline Marie Dolphin, Gabrielle Dolphin, Suzanne Dolphin Hilton, son, Anthony Benjamin Dolphin; four grandchildren: Sam Dolphin, Ciana M. and Elena I. Dolphin - Benedict, and Alexander Dolphin Hilton; nephew Nicholas, his wife Elizabeth and their daughters Natalie and Danielle Dolphin. He received a doctorate from Harvard University and was a lifelong learner and teacher and always enjoyed company and conversation. Per his wish, his body was donated to the University of California at San Francisco Medical School for research. No services. Special appreciation is extended to his devoted love Jacquey Carey, who was by his side; longtime friend Jeff Berner; and Sister Collins of the Sacred Heart.
