Gallagher, Hugh Hugh Meighan Gallagher age 92 - was born June 1, 1924 in Alexandria Devonshire Scotland and left us to be with Mother (Mama) Marge on September 29, 2016. Hughie was a perfect Charmer, Entertainer, Joker, Irish Limerick Poet, Storyteller, Husband, Father and Papa. ALL were roles he cherished - with Husband, Father and Papa most cherished. Hughie was proud of his Irish heritage, growing up as the son of immigrants in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York and equally proud that a hint of 'New Yark' was always present in his accent. As a WW2 para-trooper for the 101st Airbourne (Screaming Eagles) Hughie jumped into Holland the night before D-Day and remained in Europe through the duration of the War. Returning to Brooklyn, he met the Love-of-his-Life Marge Gredinger in 1950 at an afternoon Knights of Columbus Tea Dance. Hughie & Marge married in 1952 spending the next 57 years hand-in-hand. Hughie then spent his remaining 7 years lovingly remembering Mother Marge in his daily thoughts and conversations. Hughie & Marge moved to Minneapolis in 1962 when Hughie proudly took his post as a union representative for the CWA [Communications Workers of America] retiring in 1989. Hughie brought his personal time and people skills to his community service with the City of Minneapolis Civil Service Commission, Park Commission and Police Federation. Raising 3 daughters Kathy, Peggy and Marianne, Hughie & Marge were popular neighbors in Southwest Minneapolis and knew everyone at Christ the King Church. Their LOVE for their family ABOUNDED with Love & generousity. Adored in life, Hughie was preceded in death by his wife Marge and granddaughter Chelsea yet lives-on in the hearts and memories of 3 daughters, 2 sons-in-law and 7 grandchildren. Kathy & (Alex) McMillan Peggy & (Lear) Roemhildt, Marianne Gallagher; 7 grandchildren: Caitlin & (Nick) Coulson Cameron & (Kelsey) Roemhildt Chelsea Roemhildt Meghan McMillan Ryan McMillan, Christian Roemhildt, Liam Gallagher.
