Stehn, Jane Veasey age 99, of Bloomington, MN, passed away peacefully June 9, 2016. Born in Pocomoke City, MD on Dec. 21, 1916 to Milton LeRoy Veasey and May Morris Young. Attended Pocomoke High School, Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, PA and graduated from New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, MA in 1940 with a Bachelor of Music in piano and musicology. Taught music history and piano instruction at Western Maryland College, Westminster, MD. Married John Richard Stehn (1909-1995) on June 25, 1941. Lived in Alton, IL, New Haven, CT, Schenectady, NY, Port Jefferson, NY, Aransas Pass, TX and Bloomington, MN. Active all her life in the field of music as a piano performer, accompanist, and teacher. President of Sigma Alpha Iota professional music fraternity, member of Pi Kappa Lambda honor society for music performance, member of music study clubs, accompanist for the Schenectady Light Opera Co., president of Suffolk Symphony Orchestra Board, board member of the Port Jefferson Library. Active Unitarian after her marriage and founding member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Stony Brook, New York. Avid needleworker and bridge player, devoted herself to genealogical research in the years after her children grew up. Known for being prompt, engaged, forthright, accomplished and a leader. Valued family above all. Survived by her children, Sandra S. Clarke (Roger) of Mpls., MN, Robert A. Stehn (Marguerite) of Eagle River, AK, Thomas V. Stehn (Lorraine) of Aransas Pass, TX; 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Friendship Village of Bloomington, 8100 Highwood Drive. Interment will be conducted at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pocomoke City. MD. Memorials preferred to New England Conservatory of Music or Nabb Research Center.
