MacGibbon, Nancy Lasley Age 88, of Minnetonka died Feb 2, 2014. Preceded in death just 4 months ago by her husband of 63 years, our dad, Dr. George D. MacGibbon. As she wished, mom was home until one day before she died and had even shoveled her long, steep driveway earlier in January! Born April 25, 1925, to Neal Dow Lasley and Ruth Loucks Lasley in Mpls, Nancy graduated from West High and the U of MN Institute of Technology (now the College of Science and Technology) in 1948 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Nancy spent winters during college working and skiing in Winter Park, CO. A champion amateur golfer, she was a lifelong student of Les Bolstad. She won and placed in numerous amateur golf tournaments including the MN Women's State Amateur, the Alexandria Resorter's, the Birchmont in Bemidji, Pebble Beach, Mexico City, and many others. Avid downhill skiers, mom and dad were early members of Lone Lake Ski Club in Hopkins, traveled to Colorado every year to ski, and mom even skied locally every week last season. She loved sailing her E boat, playing tennis and spending summers all her life at her family cabin in Alexandria. She was driven to make the community and the world a better place and volunteered many hours for her causes, including serving on the Hopkins School Board. After college, she worked at Rosemount Research Center between golf and ski seasons for a couple of years, but later made a living owning and managing rental property. Survived by children, Judy (Brett Alexander), Peggy Burns, Doug, and Duncan (Cindy); grandchildren, Matt, Maya, Benjamin, and Lindsey; step- grandson, Daniel (Sara) Burns and great-grandchildren, Charles, Stuart, Hannah, Aidan, and Haley; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Marilyn Hirsch (Sioux City, IA) and Jane Reid (Corpus Christi, TX) and son-in-law, Chuck Burns. Celebration of life will be held at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Serley Chapel, 5025 Knox Ave So, Mpls. on Thurs, Mar 6, 2014, at 6 PM with a service at 6:30. Memorials preferred to: Eagle Forum (eagleforum.org); the Les Bolstad Scholarship Fund (uofmgolf.com); or donor's choice.
