Larson, Junior O. (Jay) age 89, Brooklyn Park, passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2014. Preceded in death by his parents, Lars and Olivia. He was born February 21, 1924 in Minneapolis. He enlisted in the Army and was a paratrooper in the 17th Airborne Division, 194th Glider Infantry. His life was rich and full and he accomplished many things. He put his heart and soul into his work Homeward Bound, a residential program supporting disabled children. But he was happiest when he was at the cabin, fishing, hunting, or pursuing his passion for woodworking, all of which he enjoyed until his final years. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene; children, Larry, Paul (Cathy), and Carol (Terry Spohn); grandchildren, Eric (Amy) and Adam; great- grandchildren, Caitlin, Shane, and Cally Jo; sister, Eileen Schaeffer, and many special nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Crystal, 7708 62nd Ave N., Brooklyn Park on Monday, February 24, 2014. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, with a service at 11:00 am. Private interment at Fort Snelling. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in the name of Junior Larson to the American Lung Association.
