Murphy, Lorraine (Schoenecker) Passed away on February 15th at age 93 after a short illness. She was born in Brainerd, MN on October 1, 1920, to John Schoenecker and Marie (Imgrund) Schoenecker. After graduating from St. Margaret's Academy high school, Lorraine moved to San Francisco and worked as a secretary. Lorraine met the late James (Jim) Murphy, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. They returned to Minneapolis from San Francisco to be married June 4, 1945. Jim began working at Jeub's Market, started by his grandfather, and later owned the business. Lorraine was a full-time housewife and mother to 4 girls. Lorraine later returned to work at Hennepin County Medical Center and retired at age 69. In retirement, she enjoyed travel, volunteer work, gardening and spending time with family and her many lifelong friends. Lorraine is survived by children Kathie of Burnsville, MN; Mary of NYC, NY; Pat of Champlin, MN and Therese of La Costa, CA; grand- children Stephen Brager, Yohannes and Selam Murphy, Michael Leslie and great-granddaughter Tessie Brager. A special thank you to the staff at North Memorial Residential Hospice . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one's favorite charity. A funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary's Church, 2323 Zenith Ave. N., Golden Valley on Thursday, February 20th at 10:30 AM.
