Sonnesyn, Aslaug Eleanor Passed away of natural causes on February 5, 2014, at age 95. Her children - Ann, Rolf and Chris - and her caregiver and dear friend - Bobbi Kim - were with her at the end. Eleanor was born in Minneapolis and, except for four years, lived her whole life there. She was a proud graduate of South High School, organizing alumni reunions well into old age. And she was an active member for more than 60 years of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway, and PEO - a women's professional and educational association. Eleanor's primary roles were those of loving wife, mother and homemaker. After her children had grown up, she went back into the workforce (much to her husband's initial dismay and eventual delight) as a counselor's aide at Folwell Junior High School, where she worked for more than 15 years. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Cliff, and survived by her three children, son-in- law Brian, daughter-in-law Roberta, grandchildren - Emily, Andy, Jennie, Christie and Mike - as well as large and loving network of other in-laws and great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Eleanor is being planned for May. She had a special attachment for the church community, and her family asks that gifts be made to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church and Community Emergency Services. Eleanor was a gracious and giving lady, a woman of deep faith and positive mien, who was grateful for the life she lived. She will be missed deeply by the people whose lives she touched.
