Irving W. Dietz
Dietz, Irving W. (Mike) Jr. age 86, of Plymouth, died January 29, 2013. He was born to I.W. Dietz Sr. and Rose Ann Muchow on September 3, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan. Following residences in Michigan and New York, he returned to Detroit where he finished high school before going into the U.S. Army. Mike served with the infantry in Europe for his WWII tour of duty. After the service, Mike graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Microbiology. He subsequently joined the Michigan Department of Health where he supervised the production of various vaccines. Mike joined Pfizer Inc. in 1952 where he served in various sales and sales management capacities until retiring in 1987. He has been an active member of the Hamel American Legion Post #394 and lifetime member of the VFW Post 5903 during his retirement. Mike was preceded in death by Doris, his beloved wife of 61 years. Mike is survived by his daughters, Mary Velisano (California); Karen Nance (Iowa); Janis Shannon (Ohio); and son, Michael Dietz (Minnesota). He will also be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren. Memorial service 10 AM Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata.
