Florence Margaret Marcus was born June 3, 1916 in Jewell, Iowa to Louise Olive Hanson and Daniel Otto Marcus. Her grandparents, the Hannsons and the Marcusons had immigrated to Iowa from Eidsvag, Norway. When arriving in the United States, the family shortened the names to Hanson and Marcus. At the age of nine, she and her family moved to a farm in the Dumont, Minnesota area. Florence attended the Dumont Public School and Wheaton High School. Florence married Albert Deal on November 25, 1933. From this union, they had four children. She was a member of Ave Maria Parish in Wheaton, Minnesota. Florence had many interests. As a young woman, she enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, gardening, embroidery, rummage sales, antique dishes and beautiful dinner place settings. In her later years, she developed a great interest in collectibles. Her collection of Hummels, bells, Just the Right Shoe, roosters and chickens brought great joy to her life. As a Senior Citizen, she became an avid fan of the Twins and Timberwolves. Also, she greatly enjoyed the daily coffee guests and telephone conversations with family and friends. Florence was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Grateful for having shared in her life are her children; Jim (Pam) Deal of Anoka, John (Lois) Deal of Herman, Jerome Deal and Carol of Wheaton, and daughter Joanne Dobberstein of Herman; 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 27 great- great-grandchildren; sibling Fern Tiggeman of Torrance, California. Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband Albert; her parents Daniel and Louise Marcus; sisters Frances Braun and Lorene Albert; brother Lyle Marcus; granddaughter Elizabeth Lick; son-in-law Clyde Dobberstein; and granddaughter-in-law Cheryl Dobberstein. Florence was blessed with a long, happy, wholesome life. As a family she leaves major imprints on our hearts of love, kindness, generosity and culinary skills. Blessed be the memory of Florence Deal. Hers was, in the truest sense, a life well lived, and as she entered Paradise, Florence most assuredly heard her Savior Say, "Well done, good and faithful servant.....enter into the joy of the Lord."
