Franz, Douglas B. of Elk River, passed away suddenly January 16, 2014 at the age of 52. Doug was born in Mattoon, IL and graduated from Rock Island High School and the University of Illinois where he was a member of Triangle Fraternity. Doug went to work for Honeywell in Albuquerque and fell in love and married Julie Vourazeris. The couple moved to Minnesota settling in Elk River where Doug went to work for Pentair as a Global Products Manager. Doug’s worldwide travels always brought him home to Elk River, family and friends. He was an active member of St. Andrew's Church, the City Planning Commission, the Quarterback Club and youth hockey leagues and spent countless hours watching his sons participate in local athletics. One of his greatest joys was time spent at the Elk River Golf Club playing golf with his wife and fellow members. Doug is survived by his wife, Julie; sons, Brady, Anton and Charlie; parents, Dave and Kay; sister, Sarah (Greg); and brother, Jim. Services will be held 10 AM Saturday, January 25 at the Church of St. Andrew, 566 4th St. NW, Elk River with visitation 1 hour prior to service. A celebration of life event to honor Doug will immediately follow at the Elk River Golf Club, 20015 Elk Lake Rd. NW, Elk River.
