Thomson, Douglas age 89, of St. Louis Park, passed away Oct. 30, 2013 at his home. Doug moved to Minnesota from Spring Lake, New Jersey 6 years ago to be closer to family. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Hedwig; his 3 daughters, Phyllis Thomson and her husband Clarke Porter, Kathleen Thomson and Christine Cook; grandchildren, Elizabeth Cook and Kate Porter. Doug lived the American dream, starting work out of high school in the mailroom for Worthington Pump Company in Kearny, New Jersey, and rose to the position of President and CEO of Studebaker Worthington by the end of his 40-year career. A World War II Coast Guard veteran, Doug enjoyed golf, thoroughbred horse racing and fishing. He will be remembered for his larger than life personality, strong moral compass and love of life, and will be greatly missed by friends and relatives. A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis.
