Card, Mailand Bevill 88, died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 23, 2013, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. Born January 4, 1925, in Haynesville, LA, Mailand was an original Southern belle who most certainly knew her manners. An only child of Albert and Ruth Bevill, she was a virtuoso pianist through her diligent pursuit of perfection. Performing with the New Orleans Symphony at age eighteen, at her musical crossroads, she chose family over a career. Via a position with the Southern Railroad, she found the love of her life in Washington D.C. in a gingerly gent, Dr. William H. Card. An unmatched love thrived for 58 glorious years borne from complete devotion. Mailand's intense passion and commitment were her greatest gifts. She was often found with her "tennis girls", medical auxiliary, at Bay Lake, horse shows or the back fences of tennis tournaments; always there with support and encouragement. Though the years in the North diluted her Southern drawl, her welcoming grace always made you feel good about yourself. Mailand is survived by her three children, William Card, Jr. (Krista) of Minnetonka, MN, Susan Robertson (Tom) of Fountain Hills, AZ and Scott Card (Julie) of Edina, MN, and by five grandchildren. Memorial services are at the Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, in Edina, MN, on October 29th at 11:00 am. Private interment to be held at Lakewood Cemetery. Family respectfully requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5730 Grove Street, Edina, MN 55436.
