Geraldine (Räsch) Cooper
Cooper, Geraldine (Räsch) 93, died on October 3, 2013 at her home in Richfield. The daughter of Olaf and Agnes (Hedman) Räsch, she was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on December 23, 1919, where she was raised and educated. Employed over 40 years for Control Data Corporation, retiring in 1985. Earlier she was manager and treasurer for the Board of Directors at Minot Air Force Base Credit Union. A member of Richfield Lutheran Church, Richfield Eastern Star Chapter, and the Fred Babcock VFW Post 5555 Auxiliary, and its president 1984-85; she also volunteered at the Minneapolis Veterans Home with her therapy dog, Tootsie, and for 27 years at the Armed Forces Service Center, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for which she received a Certificate of Recognition from Gov. Tim Pawlenty in 2006. Predeceased by her parents, infant son Stephen L. Sorenson, and husband Gwyn Cooper. Survived by many relatives and dear friends. A memorial service will be held on October 14, 2013, at 5 pm with visitation 4:30-5 pm, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Edina Chapel, 7110 France Avenue South, Pastor Mike Matson, officiating. Interment will be in Duluth. Memorials may be sent to the Richfield Lutheran Church, 8 West 60th St., Mpls, MN 55419.
