Morrill, Richard J. (Dick) 71 of Minneapolis and Green Valley, AZ, passed away peacefully of lung cancer on May 24, 2016. He will be missed with sadness but celebrated with joy. Dick used up every bit of his nine lives and more - including four heart attacks, nine cancers (never chemo), and COPD - and did it his way. Dick loved every minute of the 27 years he spent with the Minneapolis Police Department in many different divisions including Special Operations Division, K-9, and Homicide. He also was a Founding Father of the Emerald Society of MN. He enjoyed fishing, gambling, experimental cooking, photography, hats and spending time with family and friends that he loved so much and hated to leave - childhood sweetheart and wife of 49 years Pat, three children and their families - Maureen of St. Paul; Sean and Amy of Savage and their three sons Leo, Ike, and Arnie; Tricia of Minneapolis and her daughter Saraphina; brother Gene of Silver Springs, MD; sister Kay Guidera of Charleston, SC and her two sons Matt and Sean; and a large extended family. Greeting him are stillborn son Patrick, parents - Gene and Loretta, brother-in-law Bob Guidera and too many other family and friends that have gone before him. Visitation to be held Tuesday, May 31, from 9:00-10:45 am at Incarnation Church, 3817 Pleasant Ave S, Minneapolis 55409. Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Incarnation Building Restoration Fund, Fairview Hospice Metro, or a charity close to your heart. Private inurnment at a later date.
