Janet Mae Bonnell
Bonnell, Janet Mae 85, of Roseville (formerly of Anoka, and Rio Verde AZ) died peacefully with family at Sunrise of Roseville on Oct. 6, 2010. Born to Frank W. and Alma J. (Olimb) Carlson in Minneapolis on Dec. 1, 1924, she graduated from Washburn High School in 1943 and attended the University of Minnesota, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a devoted mother. Apart from her own children, many others too came to know her as a generous and nurturing "Mom": through the American Field Service, she and her family hosted several exchange students during a year of study at Anoka High School-Luk Verdegem (Belgium), Khaeng Sinakhone (Laos), Niels Andersen (Denmark), and Rosana Bergant (Yugoslavia). She volunteered for many years at Mercy Hospital in Anoka, contributed to many charities, and played a mean hand of bridge. She is survived by her daughter Ann and husband John Beane of Shoreview, with their children Tyler (and wife Mairéad), Hannah, and Elliott; son Tom and wife Emily McKnight of Granger IN, with their daughter Zoë; daughter Martha and husband Fayez Farhat of Jeih, Lebanon, with their children Omar and Sara (and husband Omar); son Mark and wife Catharine Hereman of Santa Fe NM, with their children Isaac and Emily; adopted AFS son Khaeng Sinakhone of Woodbury, with his wife Ounrinda (Ti) and their children Eric and Joyce; and their father Harold W. Bonnell of Ann Arbor MI. She is survived also by her dear friend Loreen Campbell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Audrey Carlson Raitt, and brother Robert Carlson. Funeral at University Lutheran Church of Hope, 601 -13th Ave. S.E., Minneapolis, on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 11:00 am; a gathering for family and friends at The Seasons near Anoka that evening from 4 to 7 pm, 12800 Bunker Prairie Road NW, Coon Rapids.
