Sister Judith (Lisette) Kavanaugh
Kavanaugh, Judith, CSJ Sister Judith (Lisette) Kavanaugh, CSJ, age 68, of St. Paul, MN. Born March 19, 1942; died October 6, 2010 after a courageous struggle with cancer. Preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Kavanaugh, and brother-in-law Joseph Joos. Survived by her sisters Elizabeth (Roy) Dennis and Barbara Kavanaugh, brother James Kavanaugh, sisters Mary Patricia (Daniel) McGuire of Granger, Iowa and Susan Joos. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, Greg, Jeff, Rebecca, Ken, Eileen, James, John, Robert, Patrick, Michael, Theodore, Lee, Darren, Jessica, Kate and Jackie as well as many grand nieces and nephews, all of whom gave her great joy. Survived also by her beloved community of Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and Consociates. Judy entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1960 and was celebrating her 50th year of religious service in 2010-11. She taught both Latin and Spanish at St. Joseph's Academy, Derham Hall High School, Cretin- Derham Hall and briefly at St. Bernard's and Benilde-St. Margaret's Academy. She served for five years on the province council, several years on the government committee, and the Province Assembly Coordinating Committee and was instrumental in developing the Consociate program for the province. Judy loved her family, friends, visiting, playing cards, The Ride Across Minnesota (TRAM), reading voraciously, traveling with students (and without students), teaching and her Community. Family and friends wish to thank all who cared for Judy, especially Dr. Kevin Mulvey, Dr. Catherine Casey, and the HealthEast Hospice nurses and caregivers. She will by dearly missed by her throng of friends. Visitation 4-7 PM Sunday, Oct. 10, with Mass of Christian Burial following at Presentation of Our Lady Chapel, St. Joseph Provincial House, 1884 Randolph Ave., St. Paul, MN.
