Greenberg, Dr. Albert age 92, of Minneapolis. Known as "Al" to family and friends, he was born in St. Paul on August 29, 1918, and died peacefully at home Sept. 30, 2010. He practiced internal medicine for 56 years from his office at the Medical Arts Building in downtown Mpls. from 1950-2006. He was known for making house calls with his black bag in hand until he retired at age 87. Beloved by patients, he was often thanked by them and their families for his wonderful and devoted care. Dr. Greenberg was on staff at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and taught at the U of M Medical School. He was a regular attendee at the Minnesota Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Guthrie Theater and Northrop dance performances. He was a passionate fan of Gopher football, the Vikings and Twins. Since 1963, he was a member of Oak Ridge Country Club where he golfed avidly with family and friends. Al was married to his beloved wife of 62 years Betty (Joseph) Greenberg, who died in 2009. He maintained close relationships with his family and is survived by his brother Ben, Woodland Hills, CA, children Matt, Weston, FL, Connie, Plymouth, MN, Sally, Washington D.C. and Jane, Mpls and his grandchildren Jessica, Michael, Leah, Shea, Joseph, Noah and William Albert. Funeral service SUNDAY 3:30 PM at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2324 Emerson Ave. S., Mpls. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to organizations that support the arts.
