Kent Drager
Drager, Kent Called back September 25, 2010. Kent, 57, of Brainard Hill Rd., Higganum, CT, died Saturday September 25, 2010 at his home. He was born January 1st, 1953 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Marjorie (Sando) Drager of North Fort Myers, FL, and the late Lester B. Drager. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Grant Drager of Haddam, CT; and a brother, Lance Drager of Ransom Canyon, TX. He was previously married to Temmy Ann Pieszak, of Haddam, the mother of Grant. Kent was most recently a Senior Assistant Public Defender with the Legal Services Unit in Hamden, CT. He received his B.A in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 1973, an M.A. in philosophy from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, an M.S. in Library Science from the University of Minnesota. While working in the Congressional Reference section of the Library of Congress, he earned his J.D. from Georgetown Law School. After law school Drager clerked for the late Chief Justice John A. Speziale of the Connecticut Supreme Court. After a brief stint at the law firm of Day, Berry & Howard, Drager returned to the Court as Executive Assistance to the Chief Justice. In 1985 he joined the Connecticut Divisions of Public Defender Services in the Legal Services (appellate) Unit, where he was continuously employed until his death. During his career with the Public Defender system Drager also taught legal writing and appellate advocacy at the University of the Connecticut and Quinnipiac University School of Law. He made a difference and enriched us all. A brief graveside service will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 3:00 pm at the Higganum-Burr Cemetery, at the intersection of Killingworth and Woods Roads in Higganum, CT.
