Knieriemen, George The Rev. George S. Knieriemen, age 85, of Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills. Born March 29, 1925. Died September 25, 2010. Preceded in death by wife, Cheryl; parents, George and Norma and sister, Norma. Survived by daughters, Marily of Niamey, Niger and Linda of Holland, Michigan and son-in-law, David Walter. Born in Philadelphia, he served during World War II, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton Theological Seminary, where he met and married Christian Education student Cheryl Robb. George was ordained as a Presbyterian minister and served churches in Basking Ridge and New Vernon, New Jersey and North Como and South St. Paul Presbyterian Churches in the Twin Cities. He is remembered for his thought provoking preaching, early support for women in ministry and service in the wider Presbyterian Church (USA). He loved the New Jersey shore, the New York Times, telling jokes and making puns. He and Cheryl, to whom he was married for 55 years, traveled widely and often hosted international guests in their home. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Presbyterian Homes Foundation or North Como Presbyterian Church. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, September 30 at North Como Presbyterian Church, 965 W. Larpenteur, Roseville.
