Singer, Linda Ellen 68, of Golden Valley. After a long and courageous battle with depression, Linda left us on January 26th and is in the palm of God's hands.Linda was quite a force in the world. Her absence will be significant. Linda found joy being the first person at an estate sale, strolling the Mpls chain of lakes with Bruce and Sasha, shopping the farmers market, gardening, traveling, hosting her family and friends, and bringing her "only Linda" original humor to those who were fortunate enough to spend time with her. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, Linda broke gender barriers during her long and successful career as a financial services executive. She was a devoted and life-long member of Central Lutheran Church of Minneapolis where she served as a Deacon. Preceded in death by parents Sigvard and Florence. Survived by best friend and loving husband of 43 years, Bruce; siblings: Celeste Birkeland (John Black), Sigvard Birkeland (Holly), Karin Birkeland (Lee Mitau), Bruce Birkeland (Diane); nieces and nephews: Alek (Dawn), Hans, and Berit Birkeland, Birk and Alida Mitau, Dane and Soren Birkeland. Life-long friend Leslie Johnson, extended family and many, many dear friends. She will be remembered often by all those who loved her and were fortunate enough to have known her. May she be at peace. Funeral services and gathering of family & friends for a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 5th at 2:00 pm, with visitation beginning 1:00 pm at Central Lutheran Church, 333 S. 12th Street Mpls, MN. Memorials preferred to: Operation Bootstrap Africa-c/o Central Lutheran Church; The Mental Health Organization of your choice.
