Vaughn, Virginia Maloney "Moon" 90, died July 26, 2008 at Saint Marys Hospital, from a stroke. Virginia "Moon" Vaughn was born on August 6, 1917 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She graduated from Rochester High School and studied elementary education in Minneapolis. She met and fell in love with Dr. Louis Vaughn, then a fellow at the Mayo Clinic; they were married on December 31, 1938. Moon was lively, caring, funny, a good friend, a devoted wife and mother, a 'people person', an ardent traveler, and interested in so many things. For the last 31 years Moon and Louis maintained a winter residence in Manzanillo, Mexico. Their friends span Mexico, Canada, and the United States. All family and friends will miss her greatly. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Louis Vaughn of Rochester, who retired from the Mayo Clinic in 1977. She was tragically preceded in death by her son Tim Vaughn, who died accidentally at their Mexico home in January, 2008. She is also survived by three sons, G. Scott Vaughn of Red Wing, Minnesota; John C. Vaughn of McLean, Virginia; and Sam W. Vaughn of Conifer, Colorado; and by a sister, Marian Boyd of Faribault, Minnesota. Moon had six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m at Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester, Minnesota.
