Elizabeth "Liz" Murphy, beloved mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on September 26, 1935, to Mike and Margaret Devney. Liz grew up in Farmington, Minnesota. Liz graduated from Farmington High School before pursuing higher education at Winona State University. With a passion for teaching, she dedicated 10 years to teaching first grade. On March 29, 1967, Liz married Babe Murphy and they went on to have four children - Ann, Mary, Brian, and Molly. Liz found immense joy in travel, gardening, and summers in Nisswa, creating beautiful memories with her family and friends. Known for her great sense of humor, Liz brought laughter and joy to those around her. Liz is preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Margaret Devney and former husband, Babe Murphy. She survived by her children: Ann Welter, Mary Fisher (Jim), Brian Murphy (Tricia), and Molly Rogers (Todd) and her brother, John Devney. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Elizabeth and Grace Welter, Charlie and John Fisher, McKenna and Michael Murphy, August, and Basia Drilling. Liz's visitation and memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12 at 1:00 pm (visitation) and 2:00 pm (memorial service) at White Funeral Home in Lakeville, MN.
