Allen William Draves 82, of Maple Grove formerly from St. Anthony Village, passed away May 18, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was husband to Sandee and they shared 62+ years of marriage. Born in Crosby, Minnesota, on January 25, 1942 to Emil and Anna Draves. He graduated from Crosby Ironton High School, went on to Dunwoody where he graduated in electrical drafting. In 1962, Al married his high school sweetheart, Sandee Johnson, and they had two children, Brad and Teri. Al worked as a draftsman until retirement. Al loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, spending time at his deer camp, coaching his kids in many sports, and making his yard the best in the neighborhood. He also loved to cheer on his grandchildren at their activities, he was their #1 fan. Al was quite the basketball player in his day and continued to play basketball and softball as he got older. Age never slowed him down but his heart did. Al is survived by his wife Sandee, son, Brad (Jen) of Maple Grove MN, daughter, Teri (Chris) Fredrick of Buffalo MN; grandsons, Zac Groschen, Ethan Fredrick, granddaughters, Anika Fredrick, Ali Butchko, Aubrey Draves. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, and his grandson Austin Draves. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 30, 2024 from 1:30pm to 4:30pm at Havenwood of Buffalo, 150 Division Street East, Buffalo, MN 55313. This is a celebration so bring your stories, your pictures, dress casual, and let's have a good time celebrating a great man. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the American Heart Association to help fight heart disease and strokes.
