Scott Robbins Anderson (age 83) left for an early heavenly tee time on April 10th with his Ping Craz-E putter loaded in his bag. We all know that's all Scott (AKA The Mayor of Mirabel) really needs. After all, he won most chipping contests with his putter leaving his opponents' pockets dry and shaking their heads. It's now known as "The Scotty" when you putt from 100 yards out. Scott valued relationships: family, friends, and colleagues. Scott married the love of his life Jennifer (Sweetie) in 2000 and they enjoyed a magical romance devoted to living life to the fullest. Entertaining was their forte. Goldfish Races, Grade the Steak, and the classic 12 Days of Christmas always left guests wanting more ... more wine that is! He enjoyed visiting his kids (Scott, Kelly, Kara, and Matthew) and grandkids (Max, Eliana, Kayla, Zach, Kaito, Maia, and Brady) around the world. The center of all family gatherings was good food and wine. He was a proud father and G'pa. Scott kept things light as he believed the shortest distance between two people is laughter. He opened most North Memorial galas and LifeSource fundraisers with a simple welcome immediately followed by, "Bubba walked into a bar ..." Recognized as the friendliest CEO by his nearly 5500 North team members, his Charlie Brown style of leadership was warm and charming. He did an enormous job of taking North Memorial Hospital, a small suburban community hospital, and turning it into the health system it is today. Scott influenced healthcare throughout Minnesota and was sought out for advice by his peers. He elevated the hospital to a Level 1 Trauma center, fiercely protected North's independent status, settled many union contracts in favor of the employees, and never lost sight of what really mattered, his team and quality service. After retirement from North Memorial as the President and CEO of twenty-five years, Scott relished his role as the Chairman of EduCare which he described as "Man who sits in chair and stays out of the way!" He was so proud of the family business that started with an idea jotted down on a stained Mai Tai napkin that now serves more than 2500 clients. A diehard Minnesota sports fan well, need we say more? A lifetime of disappointment, he was often heard in the men's grille saying, "I've seen this movie before ..." Scott loved dining out and traveling. He judged all new restaurants on the Three C's: Chardonnay, Ceasar Salad, and Crème Brule. If one didn't meet his standard, it was off the list ... period. He enjoyed trips to New York, San Fran, Vegas, Maui, and Europe with Jennifer's parents Dewey and Linda. Fun fact, Scott has seen more than 88 Broadway shows with his favorite being 42nd Street. Cheers to a life well-lived! Should you be so inclined to honor Scott, memorials preferred to LifeSource life-source.org.
