Jonas, Betty Lee of St. Louis Park, passed away on June 6th at age 93. She was born in St. Paul to Esther and Samuel M. Gross. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Peter L Jonas; her brother, Howard Gross; and sister, Carol Garrison; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman Garrison, Gershon Jonas and Tirza Jonas. She is survived by her children, Sam (Ronna), Annette Galula (Claude), and Blair (Michelle); grandchildren, Natan (Avigail) Galula, Tomer (Shiran) Galula, Meital Galula, Gabriella Jonas, Alexander Jonas, Ethan Jonas, and Arielle Jonas; great- grandsons, Hillel Lazar-Galula, Amitai Lazar-Galula, and Harel Kaplan-Galula; sister-in-law, Harriet Gross; and many beloved cousins, a nephew and nieces. Betty was a woman of boundless energy and action. She studied commercial art and worked as a commercial artist. As a young single woman, she took an extended tour of Europe and when she returned to MN., she met the love of her life Peter at a singles' dance at Temple Israel. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and she had many cousins and friends whom she adored and gave her time to. She was a lifelong dedicated volunteer who gave generously of her time to many different causes; Minneapolis Jewish Federation, Brandeis, Hadassah, Loaves and Fishes, Mt. Sinai book fair, and others. She was an outstanding homemaker who excelled in cooking, baking, pickling, knitting; earning a blue ribbon at the MN. State Fair, and she was a gracious host who loved to entertain family and friends. She was always ready to give a hand to anyone who needed help; she received the WCCO award for 'Neighbor of the Year'. She loved gardening and riding her bike all over her beloved Twin Cities. An enormous debt of gratitude goes out to our amazing and wonderful Gracie, who went above and beyond her call of duty by bringing joy, understanding, and comfort into Betty's life every single day. Our heartfelt and deepest thanks also go out to Tracie for her kindness and loyal devotion to Betty. Funeral service 12:30 pm, TUESDAY, June 7th, ADATH JESHURUN CONGREGATION, 10500 Hillside Ln.
