Struyk, Barbara Damon (Wiggs) Barbara passed away on February 16, 2022, while a resident of the Arbor at Folkestone Presbyterian Home in Wayzata. Barbara was born on September 4, 1931, to Franklin J. Damon and Josephine C. Damon. Barbara graduated from Northrup Collegiate School, attended Carlton College, and went on to earn a B.A., a Nursing Degree and a M.A. in Education from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she practiced and taught nursing at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Barbara was active in many organizations over the years including Minneapolis Women's Club; the Society for the Blind where for over 20 years she recorded books for distribution to people with impaired vision; the Page division of the Women's Christian Association; Abbott Northwestern Auxiliary, Tri-Delta Sorority and the Alter Guild of The Cathedral Church of St. Mark. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Mayflower Decedents, and the Minikahda Club. Barbara was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Charles F. Damon. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert J. Struyk; by her son, Arie F. Struyk and his wife, Ella J. Daly and their children, Aoife J.M. Struyk and James E. Struyk all of Doylestown, PA; by her son, Damon N. Struyk and his wife, M. Angelique Struyk and their children, Simon R. Struyk, John M. Struyk and Josephine V. Struyk , all of Golden Valley; and by her daughter, Elizabeth S. Struyk and her long-time friend, Michael J. Cassidy of Minneapolis. The family expresses deep gratitude to Jennifer Strubel and to the staff of the Arbor at Folkestone for the professional and loving care that Barbara has received over the past years.
