Vopatek, Carol 73, of Richfield, passed away on January 12th, after a prolonged battle with frontal temporal lobe dementia. Carol, born on July 28, 1948 to Edna and Frank Hay, Sr. of Tracy, MN. Carol grew up in rural Tracy and after graduation from Tracy High School in 1966, Carol studied at the University of MN Morris. She went on to enjoy a lifetime career in real estate sales. During her time at the University of MN Morris, she met Stephen and fell in love. Carol and Stephen were married in 1969 and settled in Tracy initially. It was at this time that they had their daughter, Jennifer. Being a mother was one of the most important parts of Carol's life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. Carol was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary and sang in the Basilica choir. She was also a dedicated volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, VEAP and various other charities. She was an excellent wife, mom and grandmother, supportive, kind, hilarious, and witty and we will all miss her dearly. Carol was predeceased by her mother and father and 5 siblings. She is survived by her husband, Stephen, her daughter Jennifer (Jason) and grandson Jenson, Deloris Mueller (sister), Henry Hay (brother) and George Hay (brother), sisters-in-law Mary Lind (Randy), Julie Clarke (David) and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation towards VEAP, a favorite charity of Carol's. Funeral mass at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11:30am, visitation will begin at 10:30am at the Basilica, refreshments will follow.
