Kraus, James A. age 69, of Brooklyn Park MN, passed away January 7, 2022 after a difficult battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his wife Kay, and parents Robert and Evelyn. Jim is survived by sons Nick (Carmen), Tom (Casy), Tim (Beth); partner Clairette LaPointe; sisters Judy (Dennis) Olson, Barb (Larry) Wilson; brother Bob (Nancy) Kraus; and grandsons Grant, Colton and Reid. Jim was born in Portland, OR, but eventually settled in Brooklyn Park, MN, to raise a family after his Army Reserve training took him and Kay around the United States. Working in the accounting industry, his professional career took him into a wide variety of locations, ranging from the cranberry bogs of Wisconsin, all the way to the ancient stone canals of Goes, in the Netherlands. An avid DIY repairman, Jim developed the Kraus repair method, which was suitable for any home repair task. This method entailed finding the best repair method by researching the three best options, then choosing to complete the task using all three instead. This methodology is carried on by his sons to this day. Also passionate about music, Jim enjoyed the hobbies of playing piano, reading obscure musician autobiographies, and dragging his loved ones to blues festivals around the Midwest. A private service will be held at a later date.
