Goebel, Joyce 78, died peacefully on January 6, 2022, at her home in Champlin, Minnesota. Joyce was known by her effervescent smile, cheerful nature, and a great sense of humor. She was born August 7, 1943, in Rush City, MN to John and Jeanette Anderson. Joyce graduated from Rush City High School in 1961, where she met Gordy Goebel, a 1957 graduate of Rush City High School. Shortly after Gordy's completion of his military service, they married in 1963 and resided in Blaine, MN until 1978 when they moved to Dayton, MN. After she graduated she was employed at Honeywell for 10 years, then she spent almost 30 years at Hennepin Technical Center as an office administrator. Joyce had the distinction of being one of the very first hires when they opened the doors in 1972 and her co-workers held her in high esteem and loved working with her. She was often referred to as "the glue that kept the school going." Her interests included socializing with dear friends and family at the American Legion, going to the casino with "the girls", decorating her house, thrill-packed excursions to the thrift stores and garage sales, gardening, cooking, and spending time at their cabin ("Goebel's Point of View") on Sand Lake. Joyce is survived by her son, Kirk, of Mounds View, MN, sisters Joan Golden, and Janet Olafson; brothers John (Ellen) Anderson, Jerrol (Marilyn) Anderson, Jerome (Barb) Anderson, and Joel (Pat) Anderson. As well as brother-in-law Gary (Lorraine) Goebel and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordy, in-laws Otto and Alexa Goebel, nephew Darin Anderson, niece Caroline Anderson, brother-in-law Bill Golden, sister- in-law Sharon Anderson, and her parents, John and Jeanette Anderson. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and notifications will be issued at the appropriate time. Donations can be made to the Anoka American Legion in Anoka Minnesota and Genesis Group Homes, Inc. North Twin Cities.
