Carisch, George Lyle Born December 12, 1935 to Lyle and Wilma Carisch - long time Wayzata residents! George sadly passed on November 26, 2021. He is survived by Sharon, his lifelong companion, best friend, wife of 67 years and the mother of their children: David (Marci) Carisch, grandchildren Lauren and Ellen (Grant) and 1st great grandchild Finn, Heidi Carisch and Stacy Carisch. Living in Wayzata his whole life, graduate of Wayzata High School, then on to Hamlin University for his electrical engineer degree and MOST IMPORTANTLY, met Sharon "the love of his life". After college he went on to work for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing only to realize he had interest in working alongside his father (another entrepreneur of Wayzata). This is where their love for business and growth stated. First with Carisch Movie Theatres, this was a business grown (with his brother) within 5 states and 100 movie theatre venues. During their 25 years in this business he dabbled in Orange Julius, created a brand called Taco Tina therefore leading them into his current venture of being a franchisee of Arby's. George truly had a long time love for not only Wayzata, but his family and children. If he was not working he was with his family. Whether it be on Lake Minnetonka (which is a place where he spent a fair amount of his childhood on his iron bottom boat the "sally ann") or teaching the family to ski. He had a love for life while working hard. He and Sharon loved to be on the lake and during their winters truly enjoyed Aspen. Their travels took them worldwide and generally with a group of friends to learn something about the culture and place they were at. George was a long time member of YPO, MEO and made MANY lifelong friendships, including business friendships both locally and internationally. Other places he enjoyed being at were Minnetonka Yacht Club, Lafayette Club, Springhill Golf Club, and recently Naples Yacht Club and Royal Poinciana Golf Club. In 1990 he was appointed to be the Commodore of the Aquatennial. They loved to entertain and enjoy laughter. George and Sharon were pretty much inseparable. His work ethic was to work forever and not retire. He was a man with many words and many many stories. He loved business, building and expanding. He created business where he was involved hands on and always wanted to participate to know the team that he had working with them. He wanted all to grow together. He loved being an entrepreur. George was quite a boy, young man, husband, dad and a person that will dearly be missed. We, his family could probably fill a whole page with the things he did with himself, mom, his family and the other million things he did and enjoy. You are missed and forever loved. A celebration of life will take place sometime in May 2022 - specific date to be announced later. He is preceded in death by his father Lyle Carisch, his mother Wilma Carisch, his younger brother Gerald Carisch and his third granddaughter Caroline Carisch.
