Holm, William C. ("Bill") age 71 of Bloomington passed away peacefully on November 1, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Holm, father Major General George Holm, and infant brother Thomas Holm. Bill's successors include his brother Jack Holm (wife Linda and their children Michael, Annie and Jeffrey) and his sister Kay Vance (husband Les). Born into a military family, Bill had a transient childhood, growing up in New York, Minnesota, Japan, Germany, Maryland, Utah, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. He graduated from Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia in 1968. Upon graduation, Bill received a Presidential appointment and four- year scholarship to the U. S. Naval Academy, which he attended briefly before transferring to the University of Minnesota, where he earned a B. A. degree in Political Science in 1972. He went on to earn an M. S. degree in Sociology from Utah State University in 1976. After receiving his Bachelor's degree, Bill performed social work for various organizations, notably including Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) (1972-1974), where he provided counseling and job placement services for ex-offenders from the New York City prison system. Bill held various positions at Lakeside Games in Minneapolis and Rollerblade in Minnetonka before moving to Waddell & Reed in Minneapolis for a brief stint as a financial consultant. Bill retired around 2004 and, as a devout Christian, spent the remainder of his life dedicated to helping others by contributing time and money to support various political and social causes. Bill treated everyone with dignity and respect and treated those he knew as if he were their best friend. Due to COVID concerns, attendance at the upcoming memorial service is limited to immediate family members.
